BPTO launches the fourth phase of Pilot Project “Patentes MPE”
On March 12, 2019, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) issued the Resolution No. 236, establishing phase IV of the Pilot Project “Patentes MPE”, aiming at accelerating the prosecution of patent applications owned by Individual Microentrepreneurs, Micro-Enterprises or Small-Sized Enterprises.
According to this Resolution, in force since March 1st, 2019, applications under the following conditions are also eligible to the program: (i) patent applications which have received office action and have not yet complied with it; and (ii) patent applications under litigation in Brazil.
Each applicant may apply for one request per month, except during the last 30 days of the program.
