The operation of the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (“BPTO”)´s systems will be interrupted between midnight on June 5 and 11:59 pm on June 10, 2019, due to the move of its Datacenter to a new location.
As a result, BPTO’s electronic portal will be unavailable to users, affecting the performance of searches and the filing of electronic petitions. Likewise, it will not be possible to file paper petitions during the period. The users will be able comply with the deadlines of this period from June 11 to 14, 2019.
According to the BPTO, the full system shutdown is required to ensure the backup and security of all assets that will be transported to the new location. It is expected that moving its Datacenter to the new facility will bring the following benefits:
i. State-of-the-art infrastructure, ensuring greater system reliability;ii.
ii. 53% reduction in maintenance costs;
iii. Stringer physical security; and
iv. Fire prevention protocols.
