Brazilian researchers are studying the development of an anti-coronavirus tissue.
Researchers from the University of São Paulo (USP) in partnership with Universitat Jaume I, from Spain, are developing a fabric capable of inactivating Covid-19.
The material consisting of a mixture of polyester, cotton and silver microparticles fixed on its surface through the pad-dry-cure process will initially be addressed for the production of protective masks and hospital clothes for health professionals, who are in the front line fighting the new coronavirus.
The test results have been promising, where the material’s ability to eliminate about 99.9% of the virus after two minutes of exposure was verified. Further tests will be carried out in order to identify the duration of the antiviral effect on the tissue particles.
