Changes to Spotify’s Terms and Conditions aim at enforcement against ad-blocks
Effective as of March 15, 2019, the latest update on Spotify’s terms and conditions reserve a special focus to ad blocks. Such applications are intended to prevent ads’ broadcasting during music streaming in the free version of the platform.
According to the new terms, the user is prohibited from using any means, including bots and spiders, to bypass or block ads. The penalties imposed on those who do not comply with Spotify’s guidelines include the suspension or exclusion of the user’s account, as well as compensation for any damages resulting from the violation of the terms.
In line with the new General Data Protection Law (Law 13.709/2018), Spotify notified the platform’s registered users about the changes. It also informed about its latest updates on information about third party apps and devices, and included a link to Spotify’s Community Terms of Use, which assists its customers.
